Solkem N'Gangbet is the Program Director of the Houston Museum of African American Culture. She creates, promotes and implements all HMAAC Programming (including performances and special events). Solkem has developed programming that has included Tony Award winner Sarah Jones; Whitney Biennialist and Loeb Fellow at Harvard, Theaster Gates; Def Poetry performer and Rockefeller Fellow, Marc Bamuthi Joseph; Guggenheim Fellowship and Creative Capital Fund recipient and Ars Electronica artist Pamela Z; the infamous DJ Spooky; author and Rhodes Scholar Wes Moore; lectures on the Voyages of The Middle Passage; The Vagina Monologues; American Association of Museums – Community Service Project; Africans in America: The New Beat of Afropolitans Symposium.
