I am a South African artist.
My work forms a series of complex visual fragments realized through
installation, film and documented performance.
I am engaged with personal and public themes pertaining to memory loss, absence, separation, invisibility and failure. I work with the limits of unpublished history and the constraints of time captured in film, found footage and personal inventories. I assemble these as the threads needed to discover and re-enact possible narratives within contemporary history.
My work has been exhibited extensively but also at:
The Museum of African Art (NYC),
The Wapping Project (London),
Centro des Artes Contemporanea (Burgos),
Palazzo delle Papesse (Siena),
Neue Berliner Kunstverein (Germany),
The 2nd Johannesburg Biennale (Cape Town),
Bow Arts Centre (London),
Oberhausen Film Festival (Germany)
and the South African National Gallery (Cape Town).
I am based in London and Cape Town.
