David Krut

David Krut published his first limited edition print with the British artist Joe Tilson in 1981. He has collaborated with numerous artists and master printers. His 1992 visit to South Africa led to publishing of editions with William Kentridge in the UK. In 2000 DKP published the first TAXI Art Book on contemporary South African artists. In 2002, a print workshop, DKW was established and the joint activities constitute a unique area of collaborations in the visual arts and arts literature.

David Krut Publishing (DKP) produced the first in the series of TAXI Art Books on contemporary South African artists in 2000. In 2002, it established a print workshop, DKW, where many artists have collaborated with printers trained inhouse, Jillian Ross, Lungi Kongisa, Niall Bingham.
TAXI-014 in 2009 - Mmakgabo Mmapula Helen Sebidi. TAXI-015 in 2010 - Paul Stopforth.
DKP have published a range of books including tw titles onthe art collection and architecture of the Constitutional Court of South Africe in Johannesburg.
David Krut sees a role of bringing skills to the arts in South Africa and has trained numerous staff who now have careers in the arts and literary arenas.
Alastair Whitton, an artist, established David Krut Projects at the Montebello Design Centre in Newlands Cape Town. He was was recently invited to exhibit at Bamako.
Jillian Ross, manager of DKW continues after six years, and recently worked for 3 and a half years on a suite of etchings with William Kentridge relating to his NOSE opera which premiered at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York in March 2010.
The 30 NOSE Prints were exhibited at Kentridge's retrospective at MOMA, New York - Jill photographed laughing/crying in front of the works.
Taryn Hackett became the the Manager of DK Projects gallery in November 2009 after our previous manager Lucy Rayner moved to Spier in Cape Town. Londiwe Nzimande trained and assisted in her formal arts education by has now moved to Goodman Gallery Project Space at ARTS ON MAIN.
Bronwyn Law-Viljoen was employed from New York to work as the managing editor and in 2010 she has gone freelance.
Luke Crossley came straight from WITS
with a degree in English Literature and is the manager of our bookstores at Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkwood and ARTS ON MAIN, East of Downtown Joburg
Exhibitions for 2010 are
March - William Kentridge NOSE Prints
August/September - Steven Hobbs
September/October - Deborah Bell Prints.
JHB ART FAIR 2010 - Jessica Webster and Steven Hobbs were featured artists.
