ALLISON WATSON - PROFILE
Allison Watson is undoubtedly one of the most self actualized young media professionals in the Caribbean. A prize recipient from the Carter Center for Investigative Journalism for her first radio documentary, Allison was named “one of the regions most diligent Media and communications students” and featured on the cover of Caribbean Choices Magazine in 2007.
A Journalist, radio and television presenter, Communication Consultant and entrepreneur, Allison recently pioneered the soon to be launched ‘Cupids little Agent” a social event and new media innovation, giving a new slant on finding the perfect mate. She also leads her own communication consultancy firm, specializing in Marketing, Brand Management, Public Relations, event marketing and personal/corporate image consulting.
Allison’s professional credits include service both locally and internationally. Post graduating from the Caribbean Institute of media and Communication, (CARIMAC) and while pursuing her Masters in Communication for Social and Behavioral Change, Allison worked as the special projects officer, assisting with research and development of new BA and Masters programs, now offered by the institute.
In 2006 Allison interned with The BBC World Service in London, England, where she was able to hone her skills and talent as a radio/television producer and presenter. This extensive global media perspective helped prepare her for her stint with the American Hospitality Academy, the following year, where she was instrumental in the development and implementation of 24 hour radio programming for hotels managed by the AHA in Orlando, Florida.
Allison holds a BA in Media and Communication (Hon) from The University of The West Indies Executive Certification in Marketing Management from University of New Orleans and a diploma in Marketing Management from the Institute of Management and Production, Jamaica.
She has hosted and produced several radio and television programs including news, current affairs, magazines, documentaries and commercials, including her role as presenter of “Our Caribbean Community” the CSME regional launch, commissioned by CARICOM in 2008.
Her most recent projects include being the face of Flow on demand campaign, face of and spokesperson for JMMB sure advance and Sure advance Plus campaigns, currently a television presenter for The Jamaica information service (JIS) the host of “Jamaica Today,” (bi-monthly current affairs magazine for Florida and US tri-state area), a broadcaster on Newstalk 93 FM as well as host of “Morning Papers,” a prelude to The Breakfast Club, Weekday mornings 5:30 – 6:00am. When she is not busy with her media obligations, Allison can be found working as the Chief Consultant at Bridge Communication Consultancy, located in Kingston Jamaica.
