Mutamassik

Mutamassik a.k.a. Giulia Loli is a producer, musician, dj, improvisor, artist, synesthete.
Born in Italy to an Egyptian mother and Italian father and raised mostly in the U.S., she is dedicated to serving as a bridge between cultures, in promoting cultural understanding, appreciation and pushing past politics to get to the kernel of truth: the fire in creativity that incinerates obstacles and small-mindedness.

She founded Sa'aidi Hardcore Productions in New York City in 1996 and publishing/label KMT BABOMB USA. She runs her music & art studio G.G.S.S/Rocca AlMileda which has been set up as both fixed and mobile in Brooklyn, Cairo & Tuscany.

As a dj she has been fanatically promoting African, Arabic and diaspora music worldwide since 1995. As a producer and musician she pioneered Sa'aidi Hardcore & Baladi Breakbeat in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1995 and delves deep into the SA'AIDI MARTIAL SOUND (blood unable to be washed out with high-tech detergents), MELANQOL BAROQUE parq dunq ARABIFIED SWAMP MUSIC darq punq QUBTI BEATS in addition to transcendental sonic experiments.

Has worked with David Byrne's Luaka Bop, Arto Lindsay, Musicians of the Nile, Ikue Mori, Marc Ribot, Butch Morris, Elliott Sharp, Bachir Attar, Kaffe Matthews, Fathy Salama, George Lewis, Leroy Jenkins, Hamid Drake, Greg Tate etc.
She is currently performing with guitarist Morgan Craft as Rough Americana and performing and recording solo albums as Mutamassik.
