theatre maker making theatre

Theatre director and multi-tasking theatre person

I am a director and multi-tasking theatre person, trained at WITS, who has worked as a director, actor, improviser, puppeteer, teacher and stage manager. I facilitate courses in drama, puppetry and masking. I have an interest in improvisation as a performance medium, a tool for devising performances and a method of training actors. I am deeply committed to making a difference to my country through the medium of theatre, being involved in community theatre and the training of aspirant South African theatre practitioners from economically disadvantaged areas and I served for some time as the performing arts manager at The Arts and Media Access Centre a longstanding NGO with a history of resistance theatre. I am currently the co-director of
Hearts & Eyes Theatre Collective, directing theatre projects.
I am active on the organizing committee of Cape Town Edge and have recently become Artistic Director of the Out the Box Festival of Puppetry and Visual Theatre.
