2nd Joburg Art Fair

SHOWCASING THE BEST OF CONTEMPORARY VISUAL CULTURE

The Joburg Art Fair is an annual art fair, presented by First National Bank. From 3 to 5 April 2009, 26 major galleries will take up 5 000m2 of the Sandton Convention Centre boasting the largest collection of African and South African contemporary art the world has ever seen under one roof. New to this year’s fair the gordonschachat collection will be presenting Security, a unique installation by internationally acclaimed South African artist Jane Alexander, and Tumelo Mosaka has been contracted to curate a selection of moving image work from countries in the Global South. The fair will also include BMW Art Talks from the artists and boast a stand featuring a selection of the best of contemporary South African furniture. Book lovers will welcome the news of a designer book space, plus and on- site Vida e Caffé and a slinky lounge bar.

The Joburg Art Fair is set to be the hippest cultural event to hit South Africa’s most intensely creative African metropolis in 2009.
