Owanto represents the Republic of Gabon at the Venice Biennale 2009

Owanto has been chosen to represent the Republic of Gabon at the upcoming Biennale di Venezia 2009. The Venice Biennale, widely esteemed as the world's preeminent international exhibition, brings together many of the world's leading artists, collectors, museum and gallery professionals, art historians and critics, and over a million art enthusiasts alike.
This year's curator of the Biennale, Daniel Birnbaum, presents a very interesting theme of "Making Worlds" that looks at art as much more than a mere object or even as a commodity, but instead as a vision of the world that if taken seriously can be seen as a way of world-making.
Maretti Arte are managing and co-ordinating this project in Venice
